When You Least Expect It

I though I'd start off posting a short fic I wrote back in November 2009. Just to whet your appetite *grin*

When You Least Expect It

It always seems to happen when you least expect it. You work so hard that you barely even notice most times. You spend day in and day out together, and time passes and that's okay. In fact, that's just fine by you. And then somewhere between grocery shopping and the dentist, after class and before that next meeting it happens.

She happens.

With her jeans hugging everything just right and a soft smile, she stands there just looking at you with those oh so blue eyes. And you forget to breathe for a minute. The next thing you know she's offering to drive you home and you're still back at the oh so blue eyes. And then she smiles and you smile, wondering what those full lips would taste like. The glint from the ring on your hand catches your eye and you realize that you can't, even though you'd really, really, like to. So you say no, making up an excuse while a part of you wonders, what if?

And then her smile fades and she looks a little sad around the eyes and you know that you did that. She nods her head and looks down before looking back up at you, then waves and wanders back inside where it's warm. And you let that breath out that you've been holding in for what seems like forever. She looks back over her shoulder and smiles one last time before closing the door behind her.

You never know when you'll see her again, you just know that you will. After all she always comes when you least expect it.

Now that the apocalypse is imminent...

Now that the apocalypse is imminent, again, and the planets are aligned, I figured what the hell, what do I have to lose, right? So here we are, starting our journey together down the long road to getting a book published.

I’m all excited!

I have been lurking online for a few years now, writing short fan fiction and learning as I went. If that is where you know me from, I hope you continue to follow me over here on this new adventure. I still have a lot to learn but the time has come to move into writing longer stories with my own original characters. Stories about strong women whose lives I want to delve into and share with you.

Regardless of how you found me, I’m glad you’re here and I hope you stick with me for the ride. I also have a great group of fellow writers joining me in their own quest for that elusive book deal, so I invite you to check their blogs out too.
